Bringing hope to the homeless in the community one care package at a time
cURRENT rESOURCES
Since homelessness became a pressing issue in the community, larger corporations and charities have been created to assist those in need. Many resources are now available to increase the quality of life of the homeless living on the streets. With more time, there will eventually be enough volunteers and resources to assist those living on the streets to obtain the help they need to maintain health, safety and comfort, and if they so wish, to re-integrate into society.
To assist both the homeless and general public with understanding the collection of resources available in various categories including shelters, health services, harm reduction services and supplies, soup kitchens and food donations, employment services, clothing banks, and ID replacement and item storage, we have created information pamphlets. These pamphlets will be provided within our care packages to assist the homeless in utilizing available resources within close proximity. As the homeless may not have access to resources such as internet or telephone to search for the various clinics or shelters nearby, we have done the research on their behalf. We have created seven pamphlets consisting of resource location, hours, contact information, and eligibility criteria. The resource centers for each category listed have been updated as of September 2019; these pamphlets will be updated each year to contain the most current and relevant information. The pamphlets are printed on paper and laminated to ensure they are not destroyed due to weather conditions. This will assist those living on the streets in becoming aware of resources throughout the community in order access them quickly in their time of need.
We strongly encourage that if you have the time, the passion, and/or the financial means to assist these various organizations with fulfilling their mission of assisting the homeless, please dedicate yourself to becoming more involved in the Toronto community.
