Essentials for Homeless began as a family non-for-profit organization, with three sisters sharing a common lifelong dream to give back to the community. Though there are numerous ways to achieve this goal, the creation of this non-for-profit was a way for us to give back to our community by assisting the less fortunate.

A lesson passed down from our parents was to always share our wealth with the less fortunate, either through providing money to those on the streets, donating clothes and toys, volunteering in soup kitchens, and creating gift baskets to donate during the holidays. Though we were happy to contribute these efforts, we were unsure our items were truly reaching those who needed it the most. We therefore began this non-for-profit in 2018 with the goal to directly provide those living on the streets with items they need not only to maintain their health and comfort, but with information about existing resources and support systems that are readily available. Our mission is to emanate love and kindness to those that have no home, little possessions, and few or no family or friends. We hope to inspire others to assist in their community and share their love and wealth with those less fortunate.

Though we plan to begin our mission locally by providing care packages to the homeless in Toronto, we hope to eventually expand our services provincially, and target other cities within Ontario where homelessness is an issue. Our hope is that one day, there is enough knowledge and awareness about the issue of homelessness, that enough people will be inspired to assist those who have lost everything in regaining their lives.
