Don't just live in Toronto, become apart of the Community

According to the 2018 census, the population of the city of Toronto is just over 3 million people, with over 6 million in the surrounding Toronto metropolitan area. The most recent census in 2018 revealed an estimated 8,715 homeless sleeping in emergency shelters, in Violence Against Women shelters, and in health and correctional facilities; a steep increase from the 5,253 homeless according to the 2013 Street Needs Assessment. Of the 8,715, there are 553 homeless that are sleeping outdoors. In the 2017 winter season, nearly 100 homeless passed away as a result of the harsh conditions. This is unacceptable and completely avoidable if we share and allocate our resources. Thankfully, this number has decreased over the 2018 and 2019 years, thanks to the efforts of the Toronto community.

However, our work is still not done. Though it may be stated that the best way to assist with homelessness is to provide more affordable housing, a commitment the growing City of Toronto cannot meet, the best options currently are to increase shelter space and provide the homeless with the current items that will assist in their survival. Our mission is to provide the homeless with items that will maintain nutritional requirements, protection against the elements, and preserve basic hygiene.

RESOURCES

The city of Toronto is a very dynamic city with more and more resources becoming readily available to assist the homeless. Though more resources such as clinics, shelters and soup kitchens meet many of the homeless' needs, there are many items still required to meet the basic necessity for health and comfort. Our mission is to provide items directly to the to those living on the streets through on-site delivery. Any additional packages will be delivered to the homeless residing in soup kitchens or at shelters. We hope to one day eventually provide goods to all of the homeless within Toronto.
